Target 2030 Automotive Design Awards

Time: 6.00pm to 9.00pm

The Minister for Higher Education and Skills, Peter Hall, has accepted VACC's invitation to attend the Target 2030 Automtive Design Awards. The Minister will inspect the entries, make an Address and present the Awards.

Target 2030 Automotive Design Awards at BMW Edge, Federation Square will be more than a presentation of student awards. It will be an event for professional automotive designers and members of the automotive industry to come together, network, socialise and promote the automotive design sector.

Shortlisted Target 2030 entries will be exhibited in the Atrium and Fracture Gallery at Federation Square, from Monday 9 July to Friday 13 July, 2012.

People's Prize
As well as the Design, Model and Essay categories, in a Target 2030 first, there will be an additional Award, the People's Prize, voted for by visitors to Federation Square.

Important information for Students 

1.      Friday 22 June 2012 - Deadline for entering Target 2030

  •  For Entry Forms, go to target2030.com.au/entryforms. Fill in and click submit

  •  If you wish to enter more than one category, for example, design, model and essay, you must submit separate Entry Forms for each entry

  • All work completed since 1 August 2011 qualifies for entry

  • VACC will notify Essay entrants when to email their entry for judging.

2.          Friday 29 June 2012 - Shortlisted designs and models announced

3.         Monday 9 July 2012 – Public exhibition of entries commences

8.00am – 10.00am Shortlisted students bring entries to Federation Square, set up and display. Designs will be exhibited in the Atrium and Models in the Fracture Gallery. Important: Late arrivals will not be displayed

Design category specifications

  • Maximum size: A1

  • Designs must be backed, for example, on Corflute, Fluteboard or cardboard

  • Do not use double-sided tape or Velcro. Designs must be backed with picture wire/strong string to be hung. Hooks will be supplied.

Model category specifications

  • Shortlisted models must be able to stand on a 600x600 surface area.

  • Shortlisted models must use the plinths provided. Do not bring your own. 

  • Larger models can be entered. Please advise VACC in advance if your model is oversized.

11.30am – 12.30pm Target 2030 Judging

  4.        Thursday 12 July 2012 – Target 2030 Automotive Design Awards

  • Venue: BMW Edge, Federation Square

  • Dress: smart causal

6.00pm to 7.00pm: Students and guests arrive and register. Shortlisted students will position themselves near their entry and have the opportunity to promote their work to guests.

7.00pm to 8.00pm: Target 2030 Automotive Design Awards presentations

8.00pm to 9.00pm: Networking, mentoring and refreshments

  • All students entering Target 2030 will be invited to attend the Automotive Design Awards on Thursday 12 July 2012.
     
  • Students may bring 3 guests only, for example, mum and dad and a sibling. Contact VACC if you need to discuss additional guests.

  • This year’s Target 2030 Automotive Design Awards is going to be very exciting. Members of Australia’s automotive design industry, including Holden, Ford and Toyota designers will be present and available for feedback and careers advice. Network and make contacts.

  5. Friday 13 July 2012 - Public exhibition of entries finishes

12.00pm to 2.00pm Shortlisted students must collect their designs and models from Federation Square. Important: students must abide by these times.
