Target 2030

Target 2030 (formally Target 2020) has developed into the most prestigious automotive design competition in Victoria. Now in its 7th year, Target 2030 is an automotive industry event which allows students to showcase their exceptional talents.

The competition is open to all Victorian Secondary and Tertiary students and the brief is simple: Design the vehicle, or mode of transport, that we will be using in the year 2030. Your vehicle must be able to be driven on the road and it must be able to transport at least one person.

There are three categories – Model-making, Design and Essay. Winners receive cash prizes and the same amount is also presented to the winner’s school, college, or university.

But Target 2030 is more than just about trying to win prizes.

The models, designs and essays are judged by respected members of the automotive industry. The event receives media coverage. Secondary students present their designs when applying to college or university and tertiary students present their designs when applying for jobs.

When the Australian International Motor Show is held in Melbourne, the Target 2030 Awards Ceremony will be hosted during the Motor Show with entries exhibited in the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. In non-Melbourne Motor Show years, Target 2030’s Awards Ceremony will be hosted at a suitable venue.

Thanks for your interest and we hope you enter Target 2030. In the meantime, join our growing on-line community and ‘like’ our Target 2030 FaceBook page to chat to other students, swop design ideas and post images of your concepts.
